Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about fence installation in Kansas City and Northwest Missouri.
How much does a new fence cost in Kansas City and Northwest Missouri?
Fence costs vary based on material, length, and terrain. Wood privacy fences typically range from $25–$45 per linear foot, vinyl from $30–$60, and metal/ornamental iron from $35–$75. Farm fencing is generally $5–$15 per linear foot. Contact us for a free, no-obligation estimate tailored to your specific project.
How long does fence installation take?
Most residential fence installations are completed in 1–3 days depending on the size of the project, material type, and terrain. Larger commercial or farm fencing projects may take 3–5 days. We provide a clear timeline during your free consultation.
Do I need a permit to install a fence in Missouri?
Permit requirements vary by city and county in Northwest Missouri. Many municipalities in the Kansas City metro area require permits for fences over 4 feet tall. Legacy Fence and Fabrication helps navigate local permit requirements and can handle the process for you.
What fence material is best for Missouri weather?
All materials we install are suited for Missouri's freeze-thaw cycles and humidity. Cedar and pressure-treated pine handle moisture well. Vinyl won't rot or warp. Metal fences with powder coating resist rust. Our team recommends the best option based on your property, budget, and goals.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes! We provide free, no-obligation estimates for all fencing projects. We'll visit your property, discuss your needs, take measurements, and provide a detailed written quote with materials, labor, and timeline. Call 816-344-2393 or fill out our online form to schedule yours.
Can you repair my existing fence instead of replacing it?
Absolutely. We offer fence repair services for all materials including wood, vinyl, and metal. During our free estimate, we'll assess the damage and let you know whether a repair or full replacement makes more sense for your budget and long-term value.
What is the best fence for keeping dogs and pets contained?
For pet containment, we recommend a 6-foot privacy fence in wood or vinyl with no gaps at the bottom. Board-on-board and solid panel styles prevent dogs from seeing through and getting agitated. We can also add dig guards or concrete footers for escape artists.
